Seasonal allergies

It's that time of year when many of us start getting itchy eyes and sneezing. Hay fever is annoying and it affects so many people. I know it's all too easy to reach for the antihistamines. But after seeing a study that showed long term use of these may increase the risk of dementia, it makes me super aware of what myself and my clients are doing to look after themselves.

There are some natural methods that may reduce the severity of hay fever symptoms:

🐝A teaspoon of raw local honey a day may help you desensitise to local pollens as these are present in tiny amounts in honey.

🌼Some herbs have a natural antihistamine action so a tincture from your medical herbalist or a tea may help support your body. Herbs include plantain, elderflower, nettle and self heal.

🌱Some supplements like quercetin are recommended by some practitioners for allergy support. (Contraindicated for some people with hypothyroidism).

💚Booking a consult with your naturopath or medical herbalist to work out how to improve your health which may reduce your allergy load. Issues like poor diet leaky gut may be implicated with seasonal allergies.
