Bone broth and powders

Bone broth is so nutritious and just the thing I crave in soup weather.

Bone broth is so nutritious and supportive of the gut. In days gone by it was good old meat stock, essentially the same thing but with a different name.

When it's soup weather, I start thinking about making it more often. I tend to do a shorter cook time in the Instant Pot and I add some shin beef or blade steak or I am able to have a meaty vegetable soup. I roast the bones first and then add salt and water to the mix. You can add green herbs and vegetables like celery, onions and carrots. If you're using beef bones, the long bones are best as they contain the marrow. I ask the butcher to cut them so the marrow is exposed.

Another great type of gut support is bone broth powder. I'm hooked on Mitchell's bone broth powder. The chocolate one is my fave. It's smooth and delicious and may be added to a smoothie, raw mlk, coconut or other plant based mylk or even just water. My daughter adds salted caramel flavour to her seed bars that she eats in her lunch.
