Saffron, a very expensive herb
Saffron, Crocus sativa, has made an appearance in my garden despite my having no recall of how I planted it there! Many of us know of it as the world's most expensive spice and buying the tincture is no exception. Those little stigmas in the flowers are so light and so few!
🌞This herb is primarily used as a culinary herb. I really love its subtle flavour and bright yellow addition to meals.
🌞As a medicinal herb it is most commonly used for low mood. I have found it supportive for myself and I was glad I felt the effects quickly.
🌞It is also used for supporting menstruation and where there is cramping with periods.
🌞There are studies to show it may support the function of the retina.
🌞It has a long history of use in Ayurvedic medicine with it being used for low mood, supporting menstruation and relieving coughs and fevers.
